Station Square named Small Business of the Month

The Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Month winner for November is Station Square.
Station Square offers a variety of flexible and collaborative work spaces for businesses and organizations of all sizes. It has a large meeting space for a classroom that will seat up to 50 people or a networking function that could hold up to 75 people. The furnished office space rents for $500 per month and includes utilities (water, electric, HVAC), internet, janitorial services and ample parking. Its meeting space is currently renting for $100 per month and includes a training room, board room that seats 10 and meeting rooms that seat four. All spaces have access to Wi-Fi.

Wine Shop Aims to Fill Niche in Area

Sarah Hicks saw more people than expected when Bin & Barrel Wine Bar and Bottles held a soft opening for its wine shop and bar last weekend inside Station Square in downtown Rocky Mount.
“It was very word of mouth, but it got around more than we expected,” said Hicks, who co-owns the business with her husband, Ryan. “We had about 20 to 25 people that came and that’s when people asked about buying wine for Thanksgiving. We had the wine so we said why not open it up during the week of Thanksgiving. We had good wine sales and we had a few people buying cases of wine.”

Station Square to Host Art & Wine Event

Station Square will host A Night of Wine and Art starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at its location on 301 S. Church St. in Rocky Mount. In addition to the art reception, people will get the chance to sample wine from Bin & Barrel Wine Bar and Bottles. Owners Ryan and Sarah Hicks are looking to open their small high-end wine retail boutique and bar in the courtyard of Station Square in November.

Downtown Wine Shop to Open

A young professional couple is using their expertise in the wine industry to start a business in downtown Rocky Mount.
Bin & Barrel Wine Bar and Bottles will occupy 719 square feet of space in the courtyard area of Station Square at 177 Nash St. The wine boutique will have some inside and outside seating in the courtyard.
“We’re going to have a good mix of everything and our prices aren’t going to be ridiculous,” she said. “We’re doing everything from your everyday wines, high-end wines to your special occasion wines.”

Coffee Shop to Open Downtown

A colorful ice cream cooler aside, the 900-foot stow away in Station Square has a rustic feel; a mellow hardwood finish with similarly brown-shaded shelves, well-thought out seating areas and a black chalkboard for a menu.
Enter from the Station Square parking lot and you’ll see the coffee bar to the left, an intimate arrangement of sofa chairs to the right and a work bar with bar stools in the middle with plug-in outlets on the side — the bedrock of an internet cafe that was previously missing in Rocky Mount.

Station Square Plans Food Truck Rodeo

A first-time free community event called the Spring Affair being co-sponsored by Station Square, the Rocky Mount Event Center, Station Square Records and Muttley Crew will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. April 14 on the Nash Street side of Station Square.
Anne Craig, director of operations at Station Square, said Spring Affair will consist of food trucks, craft breweries and a variety of activities such as face painting, bounce houses, yoga and a corn hole tournament hosted by N.C. Wesleyan College’s Eastern North Carolina Center for Business & Entrepreneurship.
